Call it a way of getting more customers or that they want their customers to stay safe on the roads, auto maker GM is offering free auto insurance for specific car models in certain states. The promotion mostly covers their higher end vehicles that tend to have high insurance costs taking it off the shoulders of customers who may have been swayed by the cost.
The US auto industry is still struggling to gain ground after most were forced to file for bankruptcy as the economy turned for the worse. It has gotten a bit better but recovery has been a slow and painful process with losses more than gains. So not having to pay for the first year of your expensive dream car’s insurance may be a way of helping auto buyers to get back spending to help the economy and the auto maker itself from these hard economic times.
